The Classic connects Montreux to Les Rochers-de-Naye along a legendary route, blending athletic challenge, breathtaking landscapes, and powerful emotions.
On the program: 18.4 km and 1,760 meters of elevation gain.
A full ascent starting from the shores of Lake Geneva, climbing to the alpine peaks, through urban vibes, forest trails, and spectacular ridgelines.
Each year, hundreds of passionate runners gather in Montreux, ready to push their limits on a course that is as physically demanding as it is magical.
Throughout the climb, it’s a true experience: a mix of solitary effort, collective energy, and complete immersion in a unique setting, where lake meets mountain.

The registration fees vary depending on when you sign up.
The earlier you register, the better the price you get:

📅 REGISTRATION OPENING
Registration opens on Monday, March 17, 2025.
All registrations must be completed online via the Datasport website by clicking the button below.

No on-site registration will be available on race day.

No registration via postal payment slip or QR code.

For safety, logistical, and transport reasons, the total number of participants is limited to 1,300 across all races.
⏳ REGISTRATION DEADLINE
Registration remains open until the Saturday before race day, exclusively online.
This deadline also applies to any request for a category change after registration.
🔄 No changes can be made on race day.
RUNNER CATEGORIES
The Classic is open to well-trained participants aged 18 and older, divided into the following categories:

⏱️ Timing is recorded, but no ranking is established.
🎽 EQUIPMENT
No mandatory gear is required to participate in The Classic.
However, keep in mind that you will be running in a mountain environment, reaching nearly 2,000 meters in altitude. Weather conditions can change quickly, and it is essential to equip yourself accordingly.
Depending on the weather, you may face intense heat or biting cold, even in summer.
Be sure to protect yourself from the sun with a cap or hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
In case of unstable weather, warm clothing and a windbreaker may become essential.
USE OF POLES
Poles are permitted only for walkers and Nordic walkers.
⚠️ Poles are not allowed in the runner categories.
BIB PICKUP
📬 Home Delivery Option
If you selected the "postal delivery" option when registering, your race bib with timing chip will be sent directly to your home.
💡 This service is available only for residents of Switzerland and costs CHF 3.–, payable at the time of registration.
🏁 On-Site Pickup
For late registrations or if you do not reside in Switzerland, you can collect your race bib directly on-site at:

🕒 START TIMES AND WAVES
All starts take place from Place de la Gare in Montreux.
🚶♀️ Walker Categories

Start at 7:30 AM for participants registered in Walking or Nordic Walking.
🏃♀️ Runner Categories

Staggered starts beginning at 9:00 AM.

To ensure safety and avoid congestion, especially in the narrow section at Les Planches, four starting waves are scheduled: at 9:00 AM, 9:05 AM, 9:10 AM, and 9:15 AM.
💡 Start times are assigned based on the estimated race time provided during registration on Datasport.
🍎 AID STATIONS
A demanding race like the Montreux–Les Rochers-de-Naye requires regular hydration and nutrition.
No fewer than 9 aid stations are distributed along the "Classic" course. They are marked on the course map with white dots featuring a red cross.
Each station offers:

Mineral water and energy drinks

Energy bars

Fresh fruit: orange slices, lemon wedges, apple slices, and bananas
CUT-OFF TIME
The final checkpoint at Les Rochers-de-Naye will close at 1:30 PM.
Participants still on the course after this time will not be classified.
Please plan accordingly and respect this cut-off time for safety and organizational reasons.
🚞 RETURN TRAIN FROM LES ROCHERS-DE-NAYE
All participants return to Montreux via the cogwheel train.
🎫 The return ticket is included in your registration: your race bib serves as your transport pass.
👥 DISCOUNTED TICKETS FOR COMPANIONS
Preferential rates are available for friends and family who wish to join you at the finish:

Children up to 16 years old: CHF 20.–

Companion tickets are handed out at the same time as your race bib.
👉 For participants who chose postal delivery of their bib, companion tickets must be collected at the Bib Pickup Office before it closes at 9:30 AM.
⚠️ In case of heavy crowds, a little patience may be needed for the return journey.

🎁 FINISHER GIFT
Each participant who completes the race within the time limit will receive a finisher gift. This item changes with each edition and may be a technical t-shirt, a backpack, an embroidered cap, a microfiber towel, etc.
In addition, each finisher receives an Energiapro eco-cup, to be used at the finish line aid station and kept as a souvenir!
🏆 PRIZES & CHALLENGES
Cash prizes are awarded to the top 5 finishers in each category, as well as to the top overall finishers.
⚠️ Only participants who are present at the official awards ceremony and podiums at 1:30 PM at Les Rochers-de-Naye will receive their prize.
No prizes will be distributed afterward.
