Starting from Montreux, take on the new Marathon des Rochers-de-Naye. A demanding 42 km loop with 3,000 m of vertical gain. With 73 m of D+/km, the profile is clear: steep climbs and sharp descents. Reach the summit before diving back down toward the lake. An extraordinary physical challenge with breathtaking panoramas.

42 km. A loop between lake and summits for an extraordinary vertical challenge.

Montreux, Place du Marché. From the ridges to the shores of Lake Geneva: complete the adventure where it all began.

Terrain types

The course consists of 19% paved road, 41% tracks, and 40% trails.

INFO MARATHON

Le Marathon des Rochers-de-Naye is an endurance challenge that requires rigorous physical and mental preparation.

🩺 Health & Safety

  • Fitness: Every participant declares they are in good health and have no medical contraindications to participating in competitive trail running.
  • Medical Authority: The race doctors and rescue workers have the absolute authority to pull a participant from the race if they deem them medically unfit to continue.
  • Insurance: A personal accident insurance and a private liability insurance valid on the day of the race are mandatory.

💰 REGISTRATION FEES
The rates change depending on the number of bibs sold (quota system):

  • Bibs 1 to 100: CHF 80.–
  • Bibs 101 to 250: CHF 90.–
  • Bibs 251 and +: CHF 100.–

📅 DEADLINES AND CONDITIONS

  • Registration deadline: May 31, 2026 (or earlier if quotas are reached).
  • Minimum age: 18 years old on the day of the race.
  • Registration: Exclusively online via Datasport. No on-site registration on race day.
  • Refunds: No refunds from the organizer in case of non-participation (injury, illness). Consider the Datasport cancellation insurance.

🎒 LE MARATHON (MANDATORY BASIC KIT)
To be carried from the start to the finish line. All mandatory clothing must be the participant's size and unaltered.

  • Backpack suitable for carrying the equipment.
  • Smartphone, turned on, fully charged, with the EchoSOS app installed and the PC Course number saved (+41 21 519 08 85).
  • Personal cup (min. 15 cl) mandatory. No disposable cups at the aid stations.
  • Water reserve (Min. 1 liter when leaving the aid stations).
  • Food reserve (min. 800 kcal, e.g., 2 bars + 2 gels).
  • Warm second layer (long-sleeved garment, minimum weight 180 g in size M, cotton forbidden).
  • Waterproof jacket with integrated hood (Min. 20,000 Schmerber, ponchos forbidden).
  • Survival blanket (Min. 1.40 m x 2 m).
  • Whistle.
  • Elastic adhesive bandage (Strapping, Min. 100 cm x 6 cm).
  • ID card (original or copy).

🌤️ WEATHER KITS (ACTIVATABLE)
The organization may activate these kits the day before the race depending on the weather conditions.

  • Bad Weather Kit: Long pants/tights, waterproof overpants, warm hat, warm/waterproof gloves.
  • Heat Kit: Water reserve of at least 1.5 liters, Sahara cap (neck protection), sunglasses, sunscreen.

⚙️ SPECIFIC RULES

  • Poles: Allowed for Le Marathon. If taken at the start, they must be kept until the finish.
  • Earphones: Allowed, except when crossing roads, railway crossings, and in the aid station zones.
  • Animals: Participating with a dog is strictly forbidden.
  • Bib: Must be 100% visible at all times and worn over clothing.

For the Marathon, bib collection takes place exclusively in person at the Marché Couvert in Montreux. There is no home delivery by mail for this distance.

  • Location: Marché Couvert de Montreux.
  • Condition: Presentation of a valid original ID is mandatory for collection.

🕒 OPENING HOURS

  • Friday: 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday (Race Day): from 6:00 AM

Tip: Come on Friday to avoid stress!

🍎 AID STATIONS (Semi-autonomy)
Distributed along the route. Offering: Water, isotonic drinks, cola, salty, sweet.
⚠️ Ecological reminder: No disposable cups are provided for Le Marathon. Personal cup mandatory. No trash may be thrown on the trail.

🤝 PERSONAL ASSISTANCE & PACERS
Le Marathon is run on the principle of semi-autonomy.

  • Allowed assistance: Only within official aid station zones (and +/- 500m).
  • Wild assistance: Any assistance outside the official zones is forbidden.
  • Pacers: It is strictly forbidden to be accompanied on the course outside of the aid stations to dictate the pace.

🚗 SONCHAUX ACCESS (Companions)
Vehicles must strictly take the route de Caux. The road on the Villeneuve side is strictly reserved for the runners' descent.

The cut-off times ensure safety. The stated times correspond to the maximum departure time from the checkpoint.

⏱️ CUT-OFF TIMES (Departure from checkpoint)

  • 📍 Col de Jaman: 11:30 AM
  • 📍 Rochers-de-Naye: 1:15 PM
  • 📍 Sonchaux: 3:45 PM
  • 🏁 Finish Montreux: 6:00 PM (Race closure)

⚠️ Any participant leaving a checkpoint after these strict times or crossing the finish line after 6:00 PM will be taken out of the race and their bib will be removed.

🆘 LIFE-THREATENING EMERGENCY OR SEVERE ACCIDENT

  1. Call 144 (ideally via the EchoSOS app).
  2. Then contact the PC Course at +41 21 519 08 85.

In the event of a lack of mobile network coverage preventing contact with emergency services, the participant in difficulty must imperatively seek help from anyone nearby (organization members, other competitors, or third parties) so that the alert can be relayed without delay.

⚠️ Assistance: You have the moral and legal obligation to assist any person in danger.

⚠️ MANDATORY WITHDRAWAL PROCEDURE
Except for severe injuries making any movement impossible:

  • You must proceed to the nearest aid station.
  • Report your withdrawal to the station chief (your bib number will be recorded).
  • NEVER leave the course without informing the organization.

⚠️ If search operations (helicopter/rescue) must be initiated because you left the course without warning, the resulting costs may be entirely at your expense.

The official file can be downloaded here a few days before the race (after the final checks on the terrain).

⚠️ WARNING

  • The trail marking is the ONLY official reference.
  • Technology helps, but the eye leads: always follow the flags as a priority.
  • The course may be changed at the last minute for safety reasons.

🚫 CAR ACCESS NOT RECOMMENDED
Narrow roads and protected areas. Favor the train!

🎟️ TRAIN TICKETS (Special Offer)
When purchased during runner registration:

  • Adults: CHF 40.–
  • Children (6-16 years): CHF 20.–
  • Children (< 6 years): Free

⚠️ VALIDITY AREA
This ticket is EXCLUSIVELY valid on the cog railway line Montreux–Les Rochers-de-Naye (to get to Jaman and the summit).
🚫 It is NOT VALID on the GoldenPass line (which serves Les Avants).

⚠️ Physical collection of the tickets at the Marché Couvert is mandatory (no postal delivery).

Le Marathon offers a scratch ranking for men and women. The prize money rewards the best athletes:

  • 1st Place: 1'200 CHF
  • 2nd Place: 800 CHF
  • 3rd Place: 500 CHF
  • 4th Place: 300 CHF
  • 5th Place: 200 CHF

⚠️ Protocol: The awarding of the prize money is exclusively in person during the official ceremony. The physical presence of the winning athlete is mandatory. No proxy is accepted. Any prize money not collected during the protocol is definitively forfeited to the organization.

The course for Le Marathon is officially evaluated:

  • ITRA: 2 Endurance points.
  • UTMB Index: Valid race (50K Category).

In case of non-compliance with the regulations, participants face penalties up to disqualification.
