Registration is exclusively online via the Datasport portal. There is no on-site registration on race day.

Registration closes on May 31, 2026 for Le Marathon and June 6, 2026 for all other races, or earlier if all available bibs are sold out (quotas reached).

Minimum age required on race day depending on the race and category:

  • Le Marathon: 18 years of age or older.
  • La Classique: 18 years of age or older for the Runners category. The race is however accessible from 7 years old for the Walking and Nordic Walking categories.
  • La Cadette: 14 years of age or older for the Runners category. There is no age limit for the Walking and Nordic Walking categories.
  • La Directissime: 18 years of age or older.
  • La Hike and Fly: 18 years of age or older.

Minors specificity: The registration of a minor participant strictly requires the agreement and authorization of their legal representative.

Hike and Fly specificity: Participation implies the acceptance of risks linked to the mountains and free flying. Possession of a valid free flight license is strictly mandatory.

Transfer and Category Change: No category change is possible on race day. Transferring a bib to a third party or changing category beforehand is possible, at the discretion of the organization. Transfer fees may be requested from the participant.

Article 3. Bib Pick-up, Shipping, and Wearing

The terms differ depending on the chosen race:

  • Le Marathon: Pick-up must be made exclusively on-site and in person at the Marché Couvert in Montreux. Presentation of a valid original ID is mandatory to collect your bib.
  • Other races (La Classique, La Cadette, La Directissime, La Hike and Fly): Participants residing in Switzerland can choose the "Home Delivery" option (for an additional 3 CHF) during their registration. For all others, collection takes place at the Marché Couvert de Montreux.

Warning (Starts from Caux): There is no bib distribution at the start in Caux. Runners who have not received their bib by post must imperatively go to Montreux before going up.

Wearing the bib: The bib must be worn on the chest, stomach, or thigh, and must be fully visible and readable at all times throughout the race. It must be placed over all clothing and must under no circumstances be attached to the backpack, folded, cut, or hidden (even partially). Penalty applies in case of non-compliance (see Article 11).

Article 4. Health and Physical Fitness

Each participant declares to be in good health and has no medical contraindications to the competitive practice of mountain running, nor to the practice of free flying depending on the chosen race.

Article 5. Insurance

Each participant must obligatorily possess valid personal accident insurance as well as civil liability (RC) insurance on the day of the event.

Article 6. Environmental Respect

The races take place in a sensitive natural environment. Participants commit to not throwing anything on the course. Bins are available to runners at the start, at the finish, and at each aid station. Penalty applies in case of non-compliance (see Article 11).

Disposable cups: In order to limit waste, no disposable cups are provided at Le Marathon aid stations; participants must use their personal cup or flasks. For Sunday's races, disposable cups are available at aid stations, although the use of reusable containers is highly encouraged.

Article 7. Mandatory Gear, Equipment, and Security

The mandatory equipment (basic kit + weather kits) must be carried from start to finish. The mandatory clothing must fit the participant's size and must not have been modified since leaving the factory.

Le Marathon (Basic Kit):

  • Backpack suitable for carrying the equipment.
  • Smartphone turned on, charged, with the EchoSOS app installed and the Race HQ number saved (+41 21 519 08 85).
  • Personal cup (15 cl min) mandatory.
  • Water reserve (Min. 1 liter when leaving stations).
  • Food reserve (800 kcal min, e.g., 2 bars + 2 gels).
  • Second warm layer (long-sleeved garment, min. weight 180 g in size M, cotton prohibited).
  • Waterproof jacket with integrated hood (Min. 20,000 Schmerber, ponchos or simple windbreakers prohibited).
  • Survival blanket (Min. 1.40 m x 2 m).
  • Whistle.
  • Elastic adhesive bandage (strapping, Min. 100 cm x 6 cm).
  • ID card (original or copy).

Le Marathon (Activable Weather Kits): The organization reserves the right to activate these kits the day before the race depending on the weather conditions.

  • Bad Weather Kit: Long running pants or tights, waterproof over-pants, warm hat, warm and waterproof gloves.
  • Heat Kit: Water reserve of at least 1.5 liters, legionnaire hat (with neck protection), sunglasses, sunscreen.

The absence of one or more elements of the mandatory equipment during a check is subject to a penalty (see Article 11).

La Hike and Fly:

  • Carrying an approved rescue parachute is mandatory right from the start.
  • The Burnair Map app must be installed on your smartphone. Participants must activate the Live Tracking feature for the entire duration of the race.
  • Each participant must obligatorily sign the official liability waiver and attend the pre-race briefing.

Poles regulations:

  • Allowed for Le Marathon, La Directissime, La Hike and Fly, as well as for the "Walking" and "Nordic Walking" categories. Any poles taken at the start must be kept until the finish.
  • Strictly forbidden for the "Runners" categories on La Classique and La Cadette.

Pets: For safety reasons, participating with a dog (canicross, walking, or cani-hike) is strictly forbidden across all races. Penalty applies in case of non-compliance (see Article 11).

Wearing earphones: Wearing earphones is permitted on the course, with the strict exception of road crossings, railway crossings, and inside aid station zones, where they are forbidden. Bone conduction earphones may be kept on in these zones, but the music must imperatively be turned off. Penalty applies in case of non-compliance (see Article 11).

Article 8. Personal Assistance and Pacers

Le Marathon des Rochers-de-Naye is run on the principle of semi-autonomy. Assistance from your relatives is tolerated under these strict rules:

  • Authorized zones: Only at official aid stations (and +/- 500 m). Any unauthorized assistance outside these zones is subject to a penalty (see Article 11).
  • Specific access to Sonchaux: Motorized companions must imperatively use the Caux road. The road on the Villeneuve side is strictly reserved for the runners' descent.
  • Pacing: It is strictly forbidden to be accompanied on the course, outside the aid station zones, by a person not registered for the race (pacer) aiming to dictate the pace. Penalty applies in case of non-compliance (see Article 11).

Article 9. Time Limits

Time limits aim to ensure everyone's safety. The announced cut-off times correspond to the maximum departure time from the checkpoint. Any competitor leaving a station after these strict times or crossing the finish line after the maximum time will be eliminated from the race and their bib will be withdrawn.

Le Marathon:

  • Col de Jaman: 11:30 AM
  • Rochers-de-Naye: 1:15 PM
  • Sonchaux: 3:45 PM
  • Finish at Montreux: 6:00 PM (Race closure)

Other races (La Classique, La Cadette, La Directissime, La Hike and Fly):

  • Rochers-de-Naye: 1:30 PM (Closure of the finish or passage control). Beyond this time, participants will no longer be ranked.

Article 10. Emergencies, Withdrawals, and Rescue

Medical decision: The race doctors and official rescuers have the sovereign and final authority to stop a competitor and prevent them from continuing (resulting in elimination from the race and withdrawal of the bib) if they deem them medically unfit to continue, for their own safety.

Emergency procedure: Prioritize calling 144 (ideally via the EchoSOS app), then contact the Race HQ. In the event of a lack of mobile network coverage preventing contact with emergency services, the participant in difficulty must imperatively seek help from anyone nearby (organization members, other competitors, or third parties) so that the alert can be relayed without delay.

Withdrawal and Rescue: If you must stop your race, you must imperatively reach the nearest aid station (if you are able to move) and report your withdrawal to the station chief (your bib will be collected). If you are injured and unable to move, immediately contact the Race HQ. NEVER leave the course without notifying the organization. If a search (helicopter/rescue) must be initiated to find you, the inherent costs may be fully at your expense.

Article 11. Penalties and Disqualifications Grid

The organization, race officials, and station chiefs are authorized to apply the following penalties in case of non-compliance with the rules by a participant:

Immediate Disqualification:

  • Specific to Le Marathon: Absence of vital safety equipment (Smartphone, waterproof jacket, survival blanket, or water reserve).

15-minute penalty (Cumulative):

  • Bib not fully visible, hidden, folded, cut, or attached to the backpack.
  • Wearing earphones (or playing music) while crossing roads, railways, or in aid station zones.

Non-participation: In the event of a participant's non-participation in the event (due to injury, illness, or any other personal impediment), no registration fees will be refunded by the organization.

Cancellation Insurance: During the registration process, cancellation insurance (paid) is offered via the Datasport portal for most races. It is up to the participant to subscribe if they wish to protect themselves against this risk.

Modification and Force Majeure: The courses can be modified at the last minute for safety reasons. The organization reserves the right to neutralize or cancel the races in the event of unfavorable weather conditions or force majeure.

Article 15. Anti-Doping

The event is affiliated with Swiss Athletics. Participants are subject to the regulations of Swiss Sport Integrity and unannounced controls can be carried out. Any refusal to submit to a doping control will formally be considered a positive result and will lead to an immediate disqualification, in addition to the disciplinary sanctions provided by sports authorities.

Article 16. Data Protection and Communications

By registering, the participant agrees that their personal data will be processed for the strict needs of the organization (timing via Datasport, medical safety, publication of results).

Furthermore, the organization reserves the right to use certain data for the promotion of the event and its future editions through targeted digital advertising campaigns.

Finally, any registered person agrees to receive direct informative and promotional communications (newsletters) from the organization. However, each participant retains the right to unsubscribe from these mailings at any time via the link at the bottom of each email.

Article 17. Image Rights

Each participant expressly authorizes the organization of the Courses Montreux-Les Rochers-de-Naye, its partners, and the media to use, on all media and without time limitation, their image, name, and athletic performance captured during the race.
